CARPENTER'S CORNER

Noah's Ark Wood ProjectModel of Noah's Ark

"And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits." Genesis 6:13-15

Scripture indicates in Matthew 13:55 and Mark 6:3 that Jesus and His earthly father Joseph were both carpenters. In Genesis we see the master carpentry of the man Noah who constructed a ship so great (over 450 feet long) that it was not until the 20th century that mankind was able to build a ship of equal or greater proportions. Of course the purpose of the ship was essentially the salvation of mankind and the simultaneous destruction of it through the global flood. Today the ark of salvation is through Jesus Christ, but the next destruction of the world as described in the book of Revelation is by fire, not water. Therefore you can basically think of these wood carvings as glorified kindling to start the Lord's great bonfire, but until then we will just enjoy the art of carpentry in its simple form.
